Frank S. Gildea

Frank S. Gildea graduated from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois from the School of Business in 1980. While an undergraduate at Bradley University, he became an accounting intern for the firm of Deloitte, Haskins and Sells. After graduation, Mr. Gildea attended Chicago-Kent College of Law and received his Juris Doctorate degree and passed the Bar Exam in 1984.

Immediately following graduation, Mr. Gildea joined the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office as an Assistant State’s Attorney. While at the State’s Attorney’s Office, he worked in the felony trial division, misdemeanor division, traffic court and the criminal appeals division. During his time with the State’s Attorney’s Office, Mr. Gildea successfully tried numerous jury trials.

In 1989 Mr. Gildea left the State’s Attorney’s Office to join Jobin & Flynn, the staff counsel of Travelers Insurance in their workers’ compensation division. In addition to his caseload of 300 files annually, he lectured and conducted seminars for the insurance carriers' claims adjusters and insureds. After seven years with Jobin & Flynn, Mr. Gildea moved to Johnson & Bell, Ltd. to become the lead partner in charge of the Workers’ Compensation Department. He successfully defended over 1,000 cases at the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission and prepared and argued numerous cases in the Illinois Circuit, Appellate and Supreme Courts.

Mr. Gildea joined Robert Young in 2000 to form the firm of Young & Gildea, Ltd. At Young & Gildea his responsibilities included: preparing witnesses for trial, initiating and executing depositions, defending cases at the Workers’ Compensation Commission, advising clients as to employer’s liability and conducting informational seminars for clients. In July 2004 the firm was renamed Gildea & Coghlan Ltd. Currently, Mr. Gildea is the managing partner of the firm.

Frank Gildea lives with his wife, Kathy, and their three daughters, Erin, Shannon and Katie, in Willow Springs, Illinois.

Edward A. Coghlan

Edward A. Coghlan graduated with honors from the Business School at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1990. After graduation, Mr. Coghlan attended the DePaul College of Law and received his Juris Doctorate degree in 1993, the same year in which he passed the Illinois Bar Exam. During law school, Mr. Coghlan worked at the firm of Coghlan, Kukankos & Cook to help defray his school expenses.

After passing the Bar Exam, Mr. Coghlan remained at Coghlan, Kukankos & Cook as an associate attorney. Subsequently, in 1994, Mr. Coghlan joined the firm of Nyhan, Pfister, Bambrick, Kinzie & Lowry. Since that time, he has focused his practice on the defense of employers in workers’ compensation matters.

Along with successfully defending a high volume of cases before the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission, Mr. Coghlan has lectured before many insurance companies, third-party administrators, employers and groups such as the Illinois Self-Insurance Association. Mr. Coghlan has also successfully argued numerous cases before the Illinois Circuit and Appellate Courts.

Mr. Coghlan joined the firm of Young & Gildea, Ltd. in 2000 and became a named partner in the firm of Gildea & Coghlan, Ltd. in July 2004. Along with Frank Gildea, Mr. Coghlan is now involved in all aspects of running the firm, while he continues to concentrate his practice on the defense of workers’ compensation claims.

Mr. Coghlan lives with his wife, Sue, and their four children, Emily, Brendan, Madison and Lauren, in Orland Park, Illinois.

Ryan M. Regan

Ryan M. Regan graduated from the College of Arts and Letters with a double major in Government and Philosophy and a concentration in Irish Studies from the University of Notre Dame in 2002. After graduation, Mr. Regan attended St. Louis University School of Law and secured his Juris Doctorate degree in 2005. During law school Mr. Regan clerked for the Callis Law Firm as well as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

Mr. Regan passed the Illinois Bar Exam in 2005 and shortly thereafter began practice at the Law Offices of Bradley S. Dworkin. During his time at this office, Mr. Regan had a case load of over 300 files at one time, representing employees in Workers’ Compensation matters as well as Social Security Disability cases.

In October 2006, Mr. Regan joined the firm of Brady, Connolly & Masuda, P.C. and has since focused his practice on the defense of employers in Workers’ Compensation matters.

Along with successfully defending a high volume of cases before the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission, Mr. Regan has also presented on topics concerning the practice of Illinois Workers’ Compensation before employers and members of the insurance community.

Mr. Regan has been named to the list of Illinois Super Lawyers Rising Stars for 2009, 2010 and 2012. This honor is provided to no more than 2.5% of lawyers in the State of Illinois.

Mr. Regan joined the firm of Gildea & Coghlan Ltd. in 2010 and continues to focus his practice on the defense of employers in Worker’s Compensation matters. He currently lives in downtown Chicago.

Jeremy J. Mazza

Jeremy J. Mazza graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2003 with a double major in Marketing and History. Following graduation, Mr. Mazza worked as a paralegal for Mazza & Associates in Columbus, Ohio before attending the DePaul University College of Law in Chicago. During law school, Mr. Mazza served as a judicial extern for Judge Wayne R. Andersen of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. He also received the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in the field of Trial Advocacy before receiving his Juris Doctorate in 2007.

After passing the bar exam, Mr. Mazza joined the firm of Brady, Connolly & Masuda, PC in October 2007 as an associate. Since that time, he has focused his practice on the defense of employers and insurance companies in workers’ compensation matters before the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission.

Mr. Mazza was named to the list of Illinois Super Lawyers Rising Stars for 2010.

In March 2011, Mr. Mazza joined the firm of Gildea & Coghlan, Ltd. He now lives with his wife, Annie, in Wheaton, Illinois.
